Nordic Real Estate Services is a provider of information, analytics, property management servicing, and real estate valuating servicing company for the residential and commercial real estate industry. Nordic Real Estate Services and our affiliates (collectively, “Nordic Real Estate Services”, “Nordic Parties”, “NRES”, “Compass”, “We”, or “Us”) respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your Personal Information. This Privacy Policy describes, among other things, what information we collect from you, how we use and disclose your information, and your rights regarding your information. Please also read our Terms of Use which sets the terms governing the service. If you are a customer, you are also governed by the License Agreement or a separate binding agreement.

This Privacy Policy applies to the NordicRealEstateServices.com website, Compass and any associated NRES websites, products, services, and mobile applications (the “Services”). It does not apply to the collection and use of certain employment-related information. If you are a current or former Nordic Real Estate Services job applicant, employee, owner, director, officer, or contractor, please Contact Us for the appropriate policy.

When using our websites, you may choose to interact with features from third parties that operate independently from Nordic Real Estate Services, such as social media widgets and links to third-party websites. Nordic Real Estate Services has no control over and is not responsible for the privacy practices of such third parties. This Privacy Policy does not apply to the extent Nordic Real Estate Services does not own or control any linked websites or features you visit or use. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the privacy practices of these third parties.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

Nordic Real Estate Services may modify or update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect the changes in our business and practices. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We create, license, and sell real estate-specific, business software solutions, services, and data analytics. As such, we collect numerous types of information in connection with your use of our websites and services, including the following:

  1. Information You Provide Us
  • Information for use of Our Services. When you create an account or profile in one of our services, or otherwise use certain services, you may be required to provide personal identifiers, such as your first name, last name, email address, company logo, payment information such as credit or debit card information, date of birth, phone number, picture, login password, job title and function, address or geographical location, and other similar personal information.
  • Information for Identity Verification. In connection with,
    1. creating and maintaining the security of our services;
    2. Providing background and screening services;
  • fulfilling “know your customer” processes, required for certain payment services;
    1. Enabling you to make and receive payments; and
    2. Complying with other various regulatory requirements, you may be required to provide us with information that can be used to verify your identity, such as your social security number, answers to security questions, images of your driver’s license, government issued ID, birthdate, and other authentication information.
  • Information for Purposes of Payment Services. To use certain features of NRES Products and services, automatic payment will be required. To make payments to us, you may be required to provide us with financial information, such as credit card information or any other additional information that may be required to facilitate the transaction. We may also capture additional information when you make payments, such as card type, transaction type, and payee information.
  • Information Revealed in Our Communities. When you participate in our communities (blogs, forums, emailing, property sharing, etc.), you may choose to disclose and provide many different types of personal information that can be used to identify you, your location, your property details, your job function, and more.
  • Information Provided when You Otherwise Interact with Us. There may be situations where you may provide us with private information. Some of these include but are not limited to, filling in documents, responding to surveys, participating in promotions, communicate with our customer service team, research opportunities, or use other features of our services.
  • Your Business Data. While some of this information may not constitute personal information, if you use our services, we will receive data that you provide us, related to your business and real estate properties that you analyze or manage; We may also obtain other information related to your business (the, “Business Data”). We understand that your Business Data is sensitive information and, in some instances, confidential). As such, we do not access, use, or disclose your Business Data except as set forth under How We Use Your Information and Disclosure of Personal Information of this Privacy Policy.
  • Any posted information such as comments, survey response, inquiries, feedback and other information, including questions submitted to our support team may be collected.
  1. Information Collected When Using Our Websites and Services
  • Device Information. Upon accessing or using our websites or services, we collect device information that can be used to identify you or your device. These identifiers ay include IP address, hardware and software information, browser type, device event information, crash data, cookie data, and the pages you have viewed or engaged with before or after accessing our websites or services.
  • Geo-location Information. When you use any of our services, we may collect information about your precise or approximate location as determined through your IP address, GPS, or nearby devices (Wi-Fi access points, cell towers, etc.).

  • Public Information. We may collect information about you or your company from publicly accessible sources, such as information posted about you and your company on the internet, news stories, and information available from governmental entities.
  • Marketing Information. We may collect information about you from marketing partners or vendors who provide us information about potential customers and partners. All information we receive from third parties is typically combined with information that we collect ourselves for the purposes set forth within How We Use Your Information of this Privacy Policy.
  • Anonymous Usage Information. Nordic Real Estate Services collects most information that we may receive from you, your customers, your vendors, marketing companies, and any other source that interacts with our services. We use state-of-the-art techniques to anonymize and aggregate data.
  • Children’s Information. Nordic Real Estate Services does not knowingly collect, solicit, or sell any information from anyone under the age of 18 or knowingly allow such persons to register as users. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

Nordic Real Estate Services uses information collected for the purpose of providing the Service. Depending on your level of interact with us and the Service, we may use your information as follows.

  • Providing Our Services. Our services perform many different functions, in order to provide our customers with the many tools we offer, use of your information and Business Data is essential for those functions. We may also use your information to provide customer services and to protect our clients and comply with our legal obligations. We may utilize your information to detect and prevent security incidents, fraud, abuse, and any other harmful activity from occurring.
  • Improving Our Services. Nordic Real Estate Services is constantly improving our services to better serve you. Your information and Business Data is used in connection with these efforts. We may use your information to assess the capabilities of third-party partners. We may also use your information to engage in research either directly or indirectly with you.
  • Create Regional Market Reports. Nordic Real Estate Services may collect and aggregate any Business Data, Property Data, or Information that you have input into our Services or provided us. All aggregated data will be anonymized with the intention of producing industry and scholarly reports, regional market data, trends, and studies. These reports, studies and trends may be made available, sold, or provided to the public. Nordic Real Estate Services will utilize methodologies to keep all your information anonymous.
  • Marketing our Services. Nordic Real Estate Services may use your information and Business Data information to inform you, your employees, or anyone affiliated with you, about our services through marketing, advertising and any other method of marketing not mentioned herein.
  • Ads and other Sponsored Content. Nordic Real Estate Services may offer adds that appear on the Service. These ads may be delivered to users by our advertising partners, who may set cookies. These cookies allow the ad server to recognize your computer each time they send you and online advertisement to compile information about you or other who use your computer. This information allows ad networks to, among other things, deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you. This Privacy Policy covers the use of cookies by us and our service providers, but it does NOT cover the use of cookies by any advertisers.

DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

We do not share your Personal Information or Business Data with anyone except when necessary to provide our services. We do not sell your Personal Information or Business Data unless said information has been converted into Anonymized Data as described below. Some examples of when and why we share your Person Information or Business Data is as follows;

  • We may disclose Personal Information. We utilize and may be partnered with a variety of third-party service providers in order for us to provide our services. As Such, we may disclose your Personal Information for the following reasons.
    1. Check information against public databases;
    2. Conduct background checks, fraud prevention, and risk assessment;
    3. Verify your identity or authentication your identification documents;
    4. Provide customer service, payments, insurance, or accounting services;
    5. Perform product development, maintenance or debugging;
    6. With your consent, such as when you choose to provide your information to third parties;
    7. To a buyer or other successor in the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of Nordic Real Estate Services assets; and
    8. To affiliates and other entities within Nordic Real Estate Services companies, distribution partners, or other Nordic Real Estate Services customers, or service providers.

We may also disclose and or sell de-identified information without restriction. Note that if you make any Personal Information publicly available on the Services, anyone may see and use such information.

  • Service Providers. Nordic Real Estate Services retains third party service providers to assist us in our business. For example, we use service providers to assist with analytics, email marketing, payment processing, customer relationship management, and IT infrastructure and support. Nordic Real Estate Services may permit these affiliates and service providers to access your Personal Information in order to assist us in providing services; however, we contractually require these third parties to keep Personal Information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.
  • Anonymized Data. Nordic Real Estate Services may aggregate and anonymize your Personal information, property information, or Business Data in order to create industry, geographic, scholarly reports, trends, and regional real estate market reports. These reports, trends, and studies may be sold and made available to or provided to the public.
  • Legal and Regulatory Disclosures. Nordic Real Estate Services may disclose your Personal Information or Business Data to courts, law enforcement, governmental authorities, tax authorities, or third parties, if and to the extent we are required to do so by law or if such disclosure is reasonably necessary in order to:
    1. Comply with our legal obligations;
    2. Comply with a valid legal request or to respond to claims asserted against us;
    3. Respond to a valid legal requirement relating to criminal investigation or alleged illegal activity that may expose us, you, or any of our other users to legal liability; or
    4. To enforce and administer our Terms of Use or other agreements with users.

Such disclosures may be required and or necessary to comply with our legal obligations, for the protection of your or another person’s interests or for the purpose of keeping our services secure, enforcing, or defending legal rights, preventing harm or crime, or to facilitate the collection of taxes.

  • Sharing with Your Consent. Nordic Real estate services provides the ability to share your Personal Information and Business Data with others. In the event you expressly consent or request, we will share your information and Business Data with a third-party service or website to access your account with us.
  • Sharing between Users. We may need to share certain information with other users that you authorize to access and use your business account. For example, your company has a shared account which would require sharing, account login information and other certain personal information that may be visible by all members for the purposes of confirming account permissions and users.
  • Public Information. We may acquire information from public record that is shared within our service. Any information that derives from these public sources are viewed as public knowledge and may be publicly shared or viewed.

    We also may allow you the ability to publish information that is visible or available to the public or other users. For example, you have a property that you own and you are trying to sell and in selling the property you share your analysis in a public setting. Similarly, if you use our Premium products that allow you the ability to share your property information with other users, you are granting us the ability to send the selected information to the other user that you have chosen to view the property or information.
  • Corporate Affiliates. To allow us to provide our services, we may share Business Data and your information with third party affiliates, family companies, which includes Nordic Real Estate Services and its subsidiaries.
  • Business Transfers. In the event we are involved in any form of merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or insolvency event, then we may sell, transfer or share some or all of our assets, including your information and Business Data in connection with such transaction or in contemplation of such transaction.

SECURITY

  1. Security of all information is of the utmost importance. Nordic Real Estate Services websites are hosted in a secure server environment that uses multi-layer perimeter security, including firewalls and other technologies to prevent interference or access from outside intruders. In addition, sensitive data is encrypted, and website connections are protected using strong transport layer security. We also take reasonable efforts to ensure that only necessary people and third parties have access to personal information. Nonetheless, no service is completely secure and security measures cannot prevent all loss, misuse or alteration of personal information; we are not responsible for any damages or liabilities relating to any such incidents to the fullest extent permitted by law. Where required under law, to notify you of any such loss, misuse or alteration of personal information that may affect you so that you can take the appropriate actions for the protection of your rights.
  2. Nordic Real Estate Services also reviews its security procedures periodically to consider appropriate new technology and updated methods. We also require that our third-party service providers and channel partners agree to keep all information we share with them confidential, and to use the information only to perform their obligations pursuant to the agreements we have in place with them. These third-party service providers and channel partners are expected to maintain privacy and security protections that are consistent with Nordic Real Estate Services privacy and information security policies. While we provide these third parties with no more information than is necessary to perform the function for which we engaged them, any information that you provide to these third parties independently of Nordic Real Estate Services is subject to their respective privacy policies and practices.



COMMUNICATION

  • Special Offers, Updates and Research. Nordic Real Estate Services may occasionally contact you, you employees, or other third parties related to you to investigate how you and your company uses our services and how we may improve on our services. We may also send you information regarding our services, including new offers, educational videos, and newsletters. When contacting you or your employees, we will typically use names, email addresses and telephone numbers to send these communications and connect with you.
  • Nordic Real Estate Services respects your privacy, if at any point you no longer wish to receive our newsletters or promotional communications, or if you no longer wish for us to contact you or any third parties that you affiliate with, you may opt-out of receiving communications from us by following the instructions included in each newsletter or communication. Please note that there are some email communications that you cannot opt-out of as a user of our services, as these are required for the continued function of our services.

Nordic Real Estate Services may provide public forums where users can market properties, communicate on bulletin boards, blogs, or chat rooms within our website or services which is subject to certain Terms of Use. These forums are provided as a service to you and other users to allow users the ability to share properties, exchange ideas, tips, information, and other techniques that is related to our services. As mentioned above, we may collect your information revealed in these forums; However, any information you choose to submit may be read, collected, or used by others and may be used to send you unsolicited messages. We are not responsible for the personal information you choose to submit on these public forums.

EXTERNAL LINKS

  • Nordic Real Estate Services websites and services may contain links to third party websites. Each of these third-party websites maintains their own policies regarding the collection and use of your information. We are not responsible and assume no liability for the actions of these third parties with respect to their collection or use of your information. It is strongly advised that you read the privacy policies of every website that you visit, including those you may reach through a link on our websites or within our services. We also encourage you read the privacy statements of each website you visit that collects your information.

COOKIE POLICY

  • Cookies are text files that are downloaded onto your device when you visit a website. These cookies perform many different functions. Nordic Real Estate Services may use cookies for the following purposes:
    • Efficient webpage navigation
    • Storing user preferences
    • Collection of information related to how you interact with our website or services.
    • Collection of browsing history in order to help us and our third-party partners provide more relevant and targeted advertisements.
  • We may send or receive cookies, or other online identifiers, on our websites in order to associate cookies with certain third-party partners and other ad tech providers. JURISDICTIONAL PRIVACY REGULATIONS

European Union Privacy Notice

  • European Union General Data Protection Regulation. We exclusively market and sell our services to United States-based organizations and individuals. Even though we do not intentionally collect information about residents of the European Union (“EU”), some EU residents’ data may be inadvertently collected through marketing channels or by virtue of our customers’ legitimate use of our services. Collection and storage of any EU resident’s data by us is minimal and incidental. No such data is used for marketing or any other purpose.
  • Despite the following, if you are an EU resident and would like to request that your date be securely removed from our systems, however the information was collected, please send an email with proof of EU residency to support@NordicRealEstateServices.com. We will remove all applicable data, so long as the removal is technically feasible, it will not impact the legitimacy of accounting or impact the business practices of our customers. We will also not remove applicable data if it were to violate other regulatory or legal standards that we are obligated to comply with.

California Residents Privacy Notice

This section of the Privacy Notice is for California residents and it provides additional rules and guidelines pertaining to the information contained within our Privacy Policy above and applies exclusively to all visitors, users, and others who are residents in the State of California (the “customers” or “you”). This notice is to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (the “CCPA”) and any terms defined in the CCPA will have the same meaning when mentioned in this notice.

Your Rights and Choices

The CCPA provides consumers (California residents) with specific rights regarding their personal information. This section describes your CCPA rights and explains how to exercise those rights. Wider privacy requirement, including GDPR and general privacy legislation are covered in the rest of this document.

Access to Specific Information and Data Portability Rights

You have the right to request that we disclose certain information to you about our collection and use of your personal information over the past 12 months. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request, we will disclose to you:

  • The categories of personal information we collected about you.
  • The categories of sources for the personal information we collected about you.
  • Our business or commercial purpose for collecting or selling that personal information.
  • The categories of third parties with whom we share that personal information.
  • The specific pieces of personal information we collected about you (also called a data portability request).
  • If we sold or disclosed your personal information for a business purpose, two separate lists disclosing:
  • sales, identifying the personal information categories that each category of recipient purchased; and
  • disclosures for a business purpose, identifying the personal information categories that each category of recipient obtained.

Deletion Request Rights

You have the right to request that we delete any of your personal information that we collected from you and retained, subject to certain exceptions, by emailing us at support@NoricRealEstateServices.com. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request, we will delete (and direct our service providers to delete) your personal information from our records, unless an exception applies.

We may deny your deletion request if retaining the information is necessary for us or our service provider(s) to:

  • Complete the transaction for which we collected the personal information, provide a good or service that you requested, take actions reasonably anticipated within the context of our ongoing business relationship with you, or otherwise perform our contract with you.
  • Detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, or prosecute those responsible for such activities.
  • Debug products to identify and repair errors that impair existing intended functionality.
  • Exercise free speech. To ensure the right of another consumer to exercise their free speech rights, or exercise another right provided for by law.
  • Comply with the California Electronic Communications Privacy Act (Cal. Penal Code § 1546 et. seq.).
  • Engage in public or peer-reviewed scientific, historical, or statistical research in the public interest that adheres to all other applicable ethics and privacy laws, when the information’s deletion may likely render impossible or seriously impair the research’s achievement, if you previously provided informed consent.
  • Enable solely internal uses that are reasonably aligned with consumer expectations based on your relationship with us.
  • Comply with a legal obligation.
  • Make other internal and lawful uses of that information that are compatible with the context in which you provided it.
  • We are unable, for technical reasons, to do so; in which case we will provide additional controls, including pseudo-anonymization, to protect your data.

Exercising Access, Data Portability, and Deletion Rights

To exercise the access, data portability, and deletion rights described above, please submit a verifiable consumer request to us by sending us a message to support@NordicRealEstateServices.com. Only you, or a person registered with the California Secretary of State that you authorize to act on your behalf, may make a verifiable consumer request related to your personal information. You may also make a verifiable consumer request on behalf of your minor child.

You may only make a verifiable consumer request for access or data portability twice within a 12-month period. The verifiable consumer request must:

  • Provide sufficient information that allows us to reasonably verify you are the person about whom we collected personal information or an authorized representative.
  • Describe your request with sufficient detail that allows us to properly understand, evaluate, and respond to it.

We cannot respond to your request or provide you with personal information if we cannot verify your identity or authority to make the request and confirm the personal information relates to you. We will only use personal information provided in a verifiable consumer request to verify the requestor’s identity or authority to make the request.

Response Timing and Format

We strive to respond to a verifiable consumer request within forty-five (45) days of its receipt. If we require more time (up to 90 days), we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing. We will deliver our written response electronically. Any disclosures we provide will only cover the 12-month period preceding the verifiable consumer request’s receipt. The response we provide will also explain the reasons we cannot comply with a request, if applicable. For data portability requests, we will select a format to provide your personal information that is readily useable and should allow you to transmit the information from one entity to another entity without hindrance, specifically by electronic-mail communication.

We do not charge a fee to process or respond to your verifiable consumer request unless it is excessive, repetitive, or manifestly unfounded. If we determine that the request warrants a fee, we will tell you why we made that decision and provide you with a cost estimate before completing your request.

Personal Information Sales Opt-Out and Opt-In Rights

While Nordic Real Estate Services does not sell any personal information, you have the right, if you are 16 years of age or older, to direct us to not sell your personal information at any time (the “right to opt-out”). We do not sell the personal information of consumers we actually know are less than 16 years of age, unless we receive affirmative authorization (the “right to opt-in”) from either the consumer who is between 13 and 16 years of age, or the parent or guardian of a consumer less than 13 years of age. Consumers who opt-in to personal information sales may opt-out of future sales at any time. To exercise the right to opt-out, you (or your authorized representative) may submit a request to us by sending us a message to support@NordicRealEstateServices.com.

Once you make an opt-out request, we will wait at least twelve (12) months before asking you to reauthorize personal information sales. However, you may change your mind and opt back into personal information sales at any time by visiting our website and sending us a message. We will only use personal information provided in an opt-out request to review and comply with the request.

Non-Discrimination

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights. Unless permitted by the CCPA, we will not:

  • Deny you goods or services.
  • Charge you different prices or rates for goods or services, including through granting discounts or other benefits, or imposing penalties.
  • Provide you a different level or quality of goods or services.
  • Suggest that you may receive a different price or rate for goods or services or a different level or quality of goods or services.

However, we may offer you certain financial incentives permitted by the CCPA that can result in different prices, rates, or quality levels. Any CCPA-permitted financial incentive we offer will reasonably relate to your personal information’s value and contain written terms that describe the program’s material aspects. Participation in a financial incentive program requires your prior opt in consent, which you may revoke at any time.

California’s “Shine the Light” law (Civil Code Section § 1798.83) permits users of our Website that are California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS

  • Information We Host on Behalf of Our Users. We host on behalf of our customers and enable our customers to store various types of data. Such data may include personal information that is collected by our customers. We generally do not control or actively monitor how our customers store or use the data they upload to our services. Any requests or questions related to data collected by our customers should be directed to the applicable party.
